New Delhi experienced widespread rainfall on Wednesday, with the city and surrounding areas observing cloudy skies and waterlogging in various locations. The Met department issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain on Thursday, leading to a drop in temperature by about four degrees. The maximum temperature in Safdarjung reached 32.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees lower than the previous day, while the minimum temperature was 25.2 degrees Celsius, slightly below the previous day's 26.9 degrees Celsius. Humidity ranged from 70% to 100%, with most of the rain occurring between 11.30 am and 2.30 pm. Safdarjung, Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge area, and Ayanagar recorded varying amounts of rainfall during the day. In specific areas like Narela, Delhi University North Campus, and Mayur Vihar, rainfall was also reported. The weather analysts indicated that the rain was due to various weather phenomena and mentioned that the intensity of rain is expected to decrease. There may be scattered rain for the following two days, with a break in substantial showers starting around September 7 or 8 for about five days. On Thursday, the maximum and minimum temperatures are forecasted to be around 33 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. The rain led to some areas experiencing waterlogging, including parts of Okhla and Ring Road.Ad and Dhaula Kuan experienced standing water. Public Works Department (PWD) officials reported that Mundka area also had temporary disruption in traffic flow, but the situation was quickly resolved. A PWD official from the central flood control room mentioned that the rainfall was moderate, allowing most affected areas to be managed effectively. Around 52 complaints of waterlogging were received, with swift action by response teams alleviating the majority of issues.

Notably, underpasses such as Minto Bridge and Pragati Maidan remained largely unaffected. However, waterlogging did cause traffic delays in various parts of the city. Significant locations impacted included Ring Road from Safdarjung Hospital towards Dhaula Kuan, Tilak Nagar, Jesus and Mary Road in Chanakyapuri, Kalindi Kunj flyover, GT Karnal Road in front of GTK Depot, Adhchini Red Light, and Shivalik Red Light in Malviya Nagar. Traffic disruptions were also observed on the Mathura Road heading from Ashram towards Badarpur due to a breakdown of a bus at Madanpur Khadar.
